Executive Director Tanya Woods on Pregnancy in Prisons.

Our Executive Director, Tanya D. Woods participated in a panel "Expecting Justice: Pregnancy in Prisons" presented by the Northwestern University Prison Education Program. The Justice Fellow panel discussed the physical, emotional, intellectual and social impact of the over 58,000 pregnant women admitted to jails and prisons in the United States.

Director Woods noted: "It was an incredible experience to holistically discuss the unique issues presented by the pregnant and incarcerated woman, especially in the realm of reunification after release. For example, how can we best support both the mother and her child in achieving a full and meaningful relationship post-incarceration?"
